BLUETERM ANDROID APPLICATION

VT-100 terminal emulator is a program for communicating with any serial device using a Bluetooth serial adapter. The RFCOMM/SPP protocol emulates serial communications over Bluetooth.

You need a Bluetooth serial adapter. (more…)

Bluetooth adaptors supported by Amarino Shield

BT adaptor

In Amarino shield version 3.0, there are headers for 3 different bluetooth adapters.

a. General Bluetooth Adapter – Cheapest adapter available at www.buildcircuit.net. RECOMMENDED !

b. BlueSMiRF– Bluetooth Mate Silver– More expensive adapter available on sparkfun.com.

c. BlueSMiRF Gold – The most expensive adapter available on sparkfun.com.

Bluetooth Modules for Amarino shield– Whichever Bluetooth adaptor you are using, the baud rate of Bluetooth adapter should match with the Serial Monitor’s baud rate. For example, if your Arduino source code has

Serial.begin(57600);

then, the baud rate of Bluetooth adapter should also be 57600. The default baud rate of BlueSMiRF module and general adapter is 9600. The shield works excellent with 9600. However, if you want to change the baud rate of BlueSMiRF module, here’s a tutorial.

We don’t know if we can change the baud rate of general Bluetooth adapters with the process mentioned on this tutorial. You can try it.

– This project has been tested with BlueSMiRF module as well as general Bluetooth adapter module and it works well.

How to change BT module audio gains and Hands Free Settings

Change The BT module audio gains

All of our Bluetooth audio amplifier boards and Bluetooth audio receiver boards use AudioB plus module as the core bluetooth receiver module. If you have to use a mismatch speakers or power supply in your system(size limit or other reasons). You may want limit the maximum output audio gains to avoid the distortion on high volume. All our amplifier boards have a programming port on it. You can change the BT Audio gains by yourself.

Change hands free settings.

The bluetooth module default settings is hands free enabled. When your smartphone connected with the bluetooth amplifier. If you have a phone call come in. It will ring loud through the speakers. Some users don’t like it. You can change this settings by yourself.

Hardware and Software required:

Step1:

Connect the CSR USB-SPI programmer and Tag-Connect line with a AudioB Plus convert board, then connect CSR USB-SPI to your computer by a mini USB cable and windows will auto detect it and install the drivers.

Step2:

Connect TC2050-IDC-NL’s connector to AudioB plus programming port. You need to locate the single steel alignment pin of the connector into the single hole of the PCB footprint, then press down softly to engage the spring-pin contacts. Make sure the first 6 pins have a good contact with the corresponding pads. Then the blue led and red led will flashes alternately.

Change The BT module audio gains:

Step3:
Make sure the connection is fine, then open Config Tool.Click “Open From Device “,then Make sure that the values of the “Default A2DP Volume Level” and the “Default Volume Level “ options are all values of HFP15. If not, please modify to HFP15.

Step4:
Select “Audio Gains ” tab, There are “Speak Gain(dB)” and “A2DP Gain(dB)” settings in this page. Here we only need change the “A2DP Gain(dB)” values. If you use an iPhone, You can find there are 15 volume levels on iOS system(Android are different). HFP1 is the start level audio volume, HFP15 is maximum audio volume, If you want limit the maximum audio volume. Just adjusting the corresponding HFP gain values.

Step5:

After the modification is completed, click on the right side of the “Write Device”. The module settings changed after reboot.

Change hands free settings.

Step3:
Make sure the connection is fine, then open Config Tool.Click “Open From Device “, HFP features tab->uncheck the HFP,HSP and WBS option.

Step4:

After the modification is completed, click on the right side of the “Write Device”. The module settings changed after reboot.

Enable Bluetooth Audio Amplifier Pin Code (Password)

Enable/Change The BT Pair number

All of our Bluetooth audio amplifier boards and Bluetooth audio receiver boards use AudioB plus module as the core bluetooth receiver module. The default bluetooth name is “BT SPEAKER”. Maybe you want change it to a special name or add a password to this module. We just updated the AudioB plus design and breakout the programming port. Here we will introduce how to enable and set the bluetooth module password.

Hardware and Software required:

Step 1: Connect the CSR USB-SPI programmer and Tag-Connect line with a AudioB Plus convert board, then connect CSR USB-SPI to your computer by a mini USB cable and windows will auto detect it and install the drivers.

Step 2: Connect TC2050-IDC-NL’s connector to AudioB plus programming port. You need to locate the single steel alignment pin of the connector into the single hole of the PCB footprint, then press down softly to engage the spring-pin contacts. Make sure the first 6 pins have a good contact with the corresponding pads. Then the blue led and red led will flashes alternately.

Step3: Make sure the connection is fine, then open PSTool in BlueSuite 2.5.0.

Step4:

Choose “SPI BCCMD”, and if the connection is fine, the CSR USB-SPI device will show in “Port”, then click “OK”.

Step5: change the password

Input “fixed” in “Filter”, then choose the option named “Fixed PIN”, the text box on the right will show the current password of Bluetooth module(default is “0030 0030 0030 0030”,That means the password is 0000), if you want to change it, just input the new password in this text box. For example, here we input “0035 0036 0037 0038” (password:5678))then click “Set” to complete the change.

Step 6: enable password

non-aptx AudioB plus module:

Input “local” in “Filter”, then choose the option named“Local supported features block”, the text box on the right will show the current parameter configuration of Bluetooth module(default is “ffff fe8f ffdb 875b” ,That means password disabled), if you want to enable password, Please change the last number to 7 ,That is “ffff fe8f ffdb 8757” then click “Set” and finally click “Reset&Close” to complete password settings and enable.

Aptx AudioB plus module:

Input “local” in “Filter”, then choose the option named“Local supported features block”, the text box on the right will show the current parameter configuration of Bluetooth module(default is “ffff fe8f ffdb 875b” ,That means password disabled), if you want to enable password, Please change them to “ffff fe8f ff9b 8753” then click “Set” and finally click “Reset&Close” to complete password settings and enable.

Turn on your phone’s Bluetooth and scan for new bluetooth devices.Your phone will search for the AudioB Plus module automatically. Usually, our AudioB Plus modules are named as “BT speaker”.

Click “BT speaker” to connect, and you need to input the new password :5678.Then click “OK” to connection to AudioB Plus.

Note:

1. If you haven’t installed CSR BlueSuite 2.5.0 on your computer, please download it here and install it. During the process of installation, you need to check the option “set debug transport the USB SPI”.

2. You may need to install the driver for CSR USB-SPI programmer on your computer.
