This is a sound level meter project from Jaycar. It is based on LM3915 chip. The kit displays the volume intensity via LEDs. It is a visual representation of the audio level.

For the maximum volume of an audio source, the yellow and red LEDs light up. For medium sound level, only GREEN LEDs light up. In the video, you will see all the steps required to build the project.

A mono jack has been connected to the kit to connect it to an audio source (FM radio). As the volume of the audio source is increased or decreased, the LEDs will display the intensity visually.

It is a simple but a great project for beginners. This project has been included in Jaycar’s short circuits II book that you can download from the links below.
